  • Life's a beach

We made it to the beach today. I'll call it a success even after multiple other failures this morning, including that we still can't figure out how to exchange money, and we can't figure out how to use Uber or any other rideshare app to get us around. Direct route, its 15 minutes in a car (air conditioned on the way there, not on the way back). We went to Las Arenas, a long, sandy stretch along the gorgeous Mediterranean. We were definitely not alone in our attempt to get to the beach from the scalding temperatures, but even packed liked sardines, we loved it. The water is impossibly warm and we could walk super far out in the sea without the water reaching our waists. We only have our place in the City until Sept 3, and we are now officially on the hunt to find a place closer to the water...closer to our hearts. :)

  • I have meat in my teeth

A few months ago, when this trip was coming together, I found my travel journal from my first trip to Spain. One of the days, as me and my friend Samantha were driving through the south of the country in a little town of Osuna, we accidentally ate liver. I laughed out loud when I read the entry in the journal, feeling so thankful that my Spanish is so much improved since then. Welp! Tonight Tyler and I ordered a fish entree. The fish was very good and Tyler was raving about the sauce. I took one bite of it and instantly recognized the texture of meat. He swore it was anchovies. No. It was short ribs. We re-read the menu...not a single mention that the fish dinner was cooked in beef parts. Spain 2, Jennifer 0. Pic of me looking Oh so 20 something in Spain below.

  • Cerrado por las vacaciones

We had a proper walk around the city today and learned a few things. First, its hot as the devil here right now. And second and related note, 90% of this place is shut down for the month of August, especially during siesta. We managed to find the Mercado de Ruzafa and a nice lunch. Presley shocked us all by eating and loving pescadito frito - something resembling fried sardines. We are so thankful we have a pool at our apartment. Time to go cool off!

  • Bodhi Case, International dog of mystery

Bodhi has officially added one stamp to his international passport. He did a lot of sleeping (unlike us) on the 4 flights it took to get us here. He's now resting on a pile of laundry...probably because its the only thing that smells like home.

  • Away we go!

After a short pit-stop in Massachusetts to spend time with family, including meeting and celebrating the baptism of our nephew Mickey, we are all packed and ready to go. Next stop, Valencia, Spain!

  • Accidental Entrepreneur

I am Jennifer Case, former attorney turned accidental entrepreneur. I grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley in Los Angeles County. Like other children of the 80s, I was a latch key kid, spending my time rollerblading, hanging at the movie theatre or the mall, working part time to save money to buy a car - side note, it was a 1984 Honda Accord. Being raised by a single mom with 3 kids, our vacations together were always domestic, and usually within a few hours. Her favorite was Dana Point, a beautiful spot in south Orange County. But you could also find us in Mammoth skiing at least every other year. Other than the occasional fun night in TJ during college at UCSD, I didn't properly travel internationally until I was 25. In between jobs, I went to Italy for 3 weeks, and I was stung hard by the travel bug. A few years later, I went to Thailand with some friends. It was there, on my last night, that I met Tyler who would soon become my husband, travel partner, business partner and co-parent. We started a company more than 15 years ago, and it has been a GRIND. We are extremely fortunate that we have assembled an amazing team to run the company while we fulfill our dream of traveling the world as a family. If you want to learn more about me, check out a TEDx talk I did a few years ago. https://youtu.be/LDGiybyYglU

  • Tyler & Jen

Tyler and I met in 2005 while traveling in Thailand. So many years later, after focussing on taking care of our business, our parents, our young daughter, we've missed our travel days. We decided that there is no time like the present to get back on the road, with our 6 year old daughter in tow. Tyler has been to 59 countries. Me, 18. I have some catching up to do!

  • Introducing the Case Family

Introducing our family. I'm Jennifer (page 45). Reluctant co-star of the blog, Tyler (age 52), and Presley (age 6). Here we are at Disneyland last year. We can't wait to take way more interesting pictures as we get started on our 6 month journey around the world.
